GORILLAZ - SONG MACHINE LIVE

On the 12th and 13th of December 2020, from the basement of the legendary Kong Studios, came ‘Song Machine Live’, three unique, virtual shows in celebration of Gorillaz latest acclaimed album.

In a year of lockdowns and cancelled tour plans, the band hosted three livestreams to cater for different time zones, produced by Eleven in collaboration with Block 9 and Pulse Films.

In “blending exciting real time performance with Jamie Hewlett’s unique animation”, 2D, Murdoc, Russel and Noodle appeared alongside Damon Albarn and a 14-Piece live band, to perform all tracks from Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez.

For a ground-breaking weekend with over one million viewers in more than 120 countries, the set featured live guest appearances from Robert Smith, Kano, Peter Hook, Georgia, Slowthai, Slaves, Matt Berry and Sweetie Irie, as well as holographic performances from Beck, Fatoumata Diawara, JPEGMAFIA and 6lack.

“The bonkers virtual extravaganza was the perfect home for Damon Albarn's animated band and their roster of glitzy special guests” – The Telegraph
